Project:
This is a project to photograph panoramic views of the city of Philadelphia from different locations by utilizing a century-old equipment and process.
These photographs will attempt to convey the beauty, timeless-ness, and a sense of history of the city in a subtle yet compelling manner.

Equipment:
A turn-of-century Korona banquet camera is used for this project. This camera was originally used for photographing a large group of people. It is relatively light and unique for its panoramic format which produces 7×17 inch negatives.
As it is an elongated rectangle, this camera creates a sweeping visual narrative of views from foreground to background in a way that is not possible with other formats.
Process:
With these large negatives from the century-old camera, a century old process called Gum over Platinum/Palladium is used to create final prints.
This particular process was popular among Pictorialist photographers like Edward Steichen, Alvin Langdon Coburn, and a few others around the last turn of century for its richness of colors and tones.

these are beautiful photos, and i feel i can be a witness - a part of the history of philadelphia - i live in the city so i could see one of these sights today, though these photos are captured more than the moment, the moment yet have the continuing time and space.
